Integrate the Email API with the Streak API - Pipedream

Let’s get our hands dirty and practice building with Zapier + Streak! If needed, an introduction can be found here. In this post, we’ll walk through building 4 example uses for Zapier in Very! Specific! Detail! If the integration or automation you’re looking for isn’t already available here, by the end of this post you’ll be an expert at creating your own!ExamplesExample 1: Streak Stage change creates a Streak task(s). Practice using a filter to specify which stage creates the task(s).Example 2: New Gmail thread creates a new Streak box. Used at Streak HQ to power our support queue! Practice using a filter so that only received threads create a box.Example 3: Update an existing Streak box from a Google Sheet update. Used at by our Customer Success team to update Streak usage statistics! Practice using search to find and then update a matching box.Example 4: Completed Streak tasks are posted to a Slack channel. Practice using an advanced search sequence.Bonus Example! Advanced search option: If a box is not found, create a new box — if a box is found, update the existing box.SetupFor any and all Zaps, you’ll need to begin by finding your Streak API key (a way for us to connect you to other services securely):Example 1: Streak Stage Change Creates a New Streak TaskIn this example, we’ll walk through creating a zap with both a Streak trigger and a Streak action. We’ll also practice using a filter so that we can specify which stage creates the new task(s).The first choice we need to make is easy! We want to use Streak:We want this Zap to trigger when a box changes Stage:Pro tip: Use ‘show less common’ to see all possible triggers:Once a trigger is selected, we’ll make use of the API key we found at the top of this blog:Your API Key will allow you to connect to any pipeline your email address can access. For this example, we’ll use our Sales CRM pipeline:… and we’ve now reached a critical junction. If we wanted this Zap to run when ANY stage change happened, we’d immediately proceed to adding an action. However, because we only want to trigger on a specific stage, our 2nd step is to add a filter:The Zap will now only trigger if the box changes stage to “Demo”. Always complete all test steps in Zapier! (Spoiler: Our filter works)Let’s move on to the Action and tell Streak to create a task when a box moves to the “Demo” stage. Note that we’ve entered the text ‘task’ so that Zapier shows only task related actions:We entered our API key in the first step so we can now select a linked account:Pro tip: Box. Streak [6.7/10]When ranking CRMs with email integration, one can not ignore Streak. Streak was founded in 2011 to be the email integrated CRM for Gmail, and it has stayed true to this mission ever since.Note that, like Copper, this again means that if you don’t use Gmail, Streak is not for you.Compared to the other CRMs in this list, Streak has historically focused very much on solo users, which is epitomized by its popular free plan without collaboration functionality (and its affordable “Solo” plan upgrade).Streak runs entirely within the Gmail interface and that’s where it’s strongest. It has no dedicated web application and its mobile apps are a bit limited (getting 2.5 and

3 stars in the App Store and on Google Play).Still, if you’re a single user and don’t use your CRM on your phone, Streak can be a simple and strong solution to start tracking your leads.Do note that to get all the 6 below features, you need to get on its Pro plan for teams, which will set you back $59/user/month (billed monthly).Testing it outUsing Streak felt like an extension of Gmail rather than a separate CRM. Since it’s built entirely within Gmail, the integration is as seamless as it gets. Every email I sent was automatically added to my pipeline, and I could track deals right from my inbox. However, this tight integration also meant that if you don’t use Gmail, Streak isn’t an option. For single users or small teams who live in their inbox, Streak is an excellent choice, though its limited features outside of Gmail and basic mobile apps might be a drawback for some.ScoringFeatures Streak offers: 6/10Update and use your CRM from within your email inboxLive sync your emails & calendar meetings to the CRMSend automated, personalized email sequences from your email inboxUse (shared or private) email templates when sending emails through the CRMTrack whether people open your emails and click on the links in your emails sent from Gmail or Outlook (Gmail only)Be reminded of emails you haven’t replied to or customer conversations that have gone quietFeatures Streak doesn’t offer:Auto-create contacts for people you’re emailing or meeting withAutomatically enrich your contact database by syncing

A Streak Task is the best way to organize your team around what needs to be done for an individual Box to move forward in your Pipeline.Today we’re delighted to announce Streak Upcoming, a simple way to answer big questions like: What should I do today? Did I forget to do anything yesterday? What does this week look like for my team?An Intelligent, Interactive Place to Get Stuff DoneStreak Upcoming isn’t just a beautiful central location for Tasks — it’s an intelligent, interactive place to Get Stuff Done. (Video)Mark a Task as done, update the Due Date, or navigate to the associated Box, all without leaving the Upcoming tab. Even better, we can automatically offer appropriate actions based on the context of your Tasks. If your Task is a reminder to make a call, we’ll automatically offer the ‘Call’ action (and, pull the phone number from the Contact Card):Or, if your Task is to email a specific person, we’ll offer an ‘Email’ action that opens a new compose window, auto fills the email address using the Streak Contact, and adds the email to the correct Box:Taking action to Call or Email are just the first examples of adding intelligence to Streak Upcoming. We have our eyes on new data sources to use as inputs as well — augmenting your manually added Tasks with suggested ones based on the history of how you like to work your leads. Many Streak teams have multiple Pipelines because they use Streak to both close deals
