Homewise announced on Dec. 19 that it has received $35 million from two donations, one at $25 million from Yield Giving, founded by MacKenzie Scott.The $25 million donation is the biggest that Homewise, a nonprofit focused on creating successful homeownership, has ever received, according to CEO Michael Loftin. The funds will help Homewise expand its lending program for first-time homebuyers, as well as build affordable housing in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.Yield Giving has given over $19.2 billion to more than 2,450 non-profits, according to its website. Homewise also received a $10 million impact investment from the Anchorum Health Foundation. Anchorum Health Foundation, located in Santa Fe, is dedicated to improving health conditions in the region.“It is bold, visionary investments like these that will help increase access to affordable homeownership, improve the overall quality of life and transform our community,” said Jerry Jones, President and CEO of the Anchorum Health Foundation in a news release. Homewise has 1,500 new housing units in its pipeline, the nonprofit recently purchased 316 acres of land in Santa Fe for $3.2 million to provide more affordable housing. Not easy and straightforward as we first thought, not been good experience so far, it’s very difficult to get a straight forward answer to any concerns, we have felt that they are not getting the best deal for us as a customer , it’s all a bit cloak and dagger between them and the estate agents.
