Many people see these services as an alternative to proper backups -- and when the penny finally drops, it's far too late to do anything about it. If even one in one thousand of those photos was somebody's irreplaceable picture of a long-lost relative, say, or something equally important to them (and perhaps others), well, that's a heartbreak in the making if they didn't have a proper backup elsewhere. But this time, at least, there's a hero waiting in the wings. SmugMug, which has been around long enough now to consider it one of the elder statesmen of photo sharing, has come to the rescue. And although it clearly stands to make a profit if it can persuade Picturelife customers to use its service instead, it's being impressively straightforward and fair by not using all those lost photos as a bargaining chip. Picturelife's website now redirects to SmugMug, where customers of the Streamnation-backed photo sharing site can get back their photos free of charge. Instead, as an email from Picturelife told its former customers yesterday, SmugMug is allowing them to access their photos -- all 200 million of them (!) -- for viewing and downloading completely free of charge. Picturelife users can, of course, opt to enroll with SmugMug if they want to continue to add to their online photo collections, but it's by no means a requirement -- and that's great news! With a little luck, the collapse of Picturelife will help to dissuade the public of the notion that online photo sharing sites are a sensible backup solution for their photos, too, although we rather doubt it. Be that as it may, major kudos to SmugMug for stepping in to save the day for the many Picturelife users who for years have mistakenly believed their photos to beSend to smugmug 1.0 Download - Send to smugmug.exe
If you have over 1,000 photos on the image-hosting site Flickr, this is VERY IMPORTANT. You need to download those photos NOW, or they will be DELETED. Yes, that sucks. It sucks a lot! You don’t want to lose your photos, so pull up your big boy pants and actually log in to Flickr and take care of this TODAY. I AM YELLING AT YOU RIGHT NOW! DO IT!Here’s the rundown: In April 2018, Yahoo sold Flickr to a company called SmugMug, which has been around a long time, mainly as a professional photographers site. All was well and fine, at first. Then, in November, SmugMug-owned Flickr announced that it planned to end the free unlimited image storage the site offered users, starting Jan. 8 (that’s today, bitches). From now on, Flickr will only host 1,000 photos for free, and if you have more than that uploaded to the site, it will stop displaying them. You also won’t be able to upload any more photos to your account if you’ve hit that 1,000 limit. As of today, you have two options: Keep your photos up and pay for a Pro account ($50/year).Or, download them and be on your merry way, to do whatever you want to do with those weird photos you had on there in 2009. Unfortunately, if you had meticulously organized your photos on Flickr with albums and sets, all that organization will be lost. You’ll just get your photo files and some basically meaningless .json files with metadata. For theSend to smugmug 1.2 Download - Send to smugmug.exe

Lots of of them are still in my computer and elsewhere. I think Flickr is the best, Ipernity I'm disappointed with, as far as I remember, there I can only have 200 free, anyway. Some people, me included, just do not have enough money to pay for pro here, especially if, like me, they have other sites more important to keep. Mike Slade.:Any free members with more than 1000 photo's need to make sure they have local backups of their hard work. That's OK, but we will lose all comments and lots of groups. Flickr is a photo showcase service and is not meant as mere storage. The very fact that you are asking this question here shows what Flickr is about - a community of people talking to each other. Try doing this with Amazon Photos or most other services you listed. Posted 78 months ago. ( permalink ) BarryKelly says: Im not happy with this news, Thinking of jumping ship also. I had a paid account for 4 years till they doubled the price. I have over 5000 pics some in my account are the only copies i have. If there was an easy way to download my whole account i would do it now. But 5000 pics will take me hours to download.I've not been happy with a lot of the changes to flickr over the years but this is the first change that has me thinking should close my account.
