3,749 reviews62 followersOctober 15, 2024What happens when Autumn finds a classmate who has been beaten up on her way to a party and takes him home to hide him? What has happened to Cody who is from the wrong side of the tracks? Why would a girl like Autumn who lives on the rich side of town want to help him? First published by Scholastic Canada, this is a heartwarming story about two teens who are trying to find their place and purpose in the world.2024 ya45 reviewsJune 17, 2024Premise was good but it lacked a lot of polish. Simple things like never reporting to the police, racism being solved by talking, and then adding in some magical elements really cheapened the story. The first 3 or 4 chapters were really solid, the rest of the book didn’t hold up1,333 reviews14 followersJune 7, 2024⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. This is told in two perspectives - Autumn, an Indigenous, popular seventh grader, and Cody, a classmate of hers with a mother in prison and an abusive father. When his dad beats him yet again, Cody flees. Autumn finds him passed out in a sidewalk near her house, and takes him home. With the help of her parents, Cody heals physically while trying to un-learn racist ideas instilled in him by his father. At the same time, Autumn comes to terms with the fact that her new popularity isn’t what she wants after all. Overall, this is pretty simplistic, but it’s a quick read for readers

Autumn Tracks Songs Download: Play Listen Autumn Tracks

September 13, 2024 Credit: Libby HamantSongs I Wish I Wrote is a monthly column that assembles new and old songs for Ohio State’s music lovers.Click here to listen to the “Songs I Wish I Wrote: Fall in love with these autumn tracks” playlist on Spotify. Autumn is many people’s favorite season for a number of reasons, including the lovely weather and pumpkin spice’s domination in bakeries and cafés. Annually, I curate a playlist of songs that musically mirror autumnal weather, memories and scenes. Plucking just a handful of songs from this year’s playlist — home to over 400 songs – was no easy feat. Ultimately, I settled on songs that not only feel like fall, but also possess distinctly autumnal titles. Indeed, one can enjoy these tracks right along with their perennial namesakes.“Rotten Apple” by Alice in ChainsBeyond being beloved seasonal produce, apples have long served as effective symbolic devices in art — seen most recently in hyper-pop sensation Charli XCX’s hit single, “Apple,” which represents generational trauma through the metaphor of fruit. If XCX’s “Apple” beams with the neon green strobe lights that doused hedonistic summer outings, alternative-rock band Alice in Chains’ “Rotten Apple” is bitten by lonely autumn nights’ whispering wind and amorphous gloom.Musically, the song is absolutely entrancing. Mike Inez’s sludgy, tenebrous bass riff in the track is one of his most commanding, and the intricate conversation between Jerry Cantrell’s guitars — one a nimbly picked acoustic, the other a wailing electric — is as evocative as an exchange between two human voices. The dirge also marks one of singer and lyricist Layne Staley’s most hauntingly gorgeous vocal performances. The track’s layered vocal recordings lend an eerie, gripping quality to his devastatingly honest chronicle of lost innocence, suspended sorrow and chronically delayed repentances.“Autumn Leaves” by Mark LaneganThough Lanegan rose to fame in the rock band Screaming Trees, this tune is a gorgeous showcase of his natural penchant for the blues, which permeated his solo releases and work with supergroup Mad Season. Exuding a melancholy sultriness, his scratchy vibrato is spellbinding, infused with autumnal air’s natural smokiness. The jazz classic has been beautifully interpreted by crooners such as Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, but Lanegan’s rendition particularly embodies the dark romanticism of a downcast September evening.“Pale September” by Fiona AppleAutumn isn’t generally considered a season of rebirth, but there’s something immensely healing in the bright, deliciously crisp days

Of September. The early autumnal weather is gentle and forgiving, providing a flicker of soul-warming peace and hope between days of blistering summer heat and heartless winter cold.On “Pale September” — a jazzy, love-drunk ode grounded by a piano riff and string arrangement ripe with longing — singer-songwriter Fiona Apple recognizes such seasonal renewal while opening her heart to a lover. Apple’s lush voice melts and ascends with effortless agility, wrapping itself around lyrics laden with sensual figurative language — notably, “autumn days” that feel “like cotton on [her] skin” and the “winter” of her heart “giving way to warm” — like a velvet blanket.“Autumn Sweater” by Yo La TengoAnother beloved fall tradition is resurrecting a cool-weather wardrobe; luckily, the equally cozy indie-rock band Yo La Tengo’s classic, titled “Autumn Sweater,” is the perfect addition to any autumn outfit. Shuffling, shadowy and tranquil, it’s a track fit for nighttime walks on campus, feeling happy yet sleepy while watching a golden moon rise above the trees and silently holding the promise of a new season close to one’s heart.“Cinnamon” by TaminoNo spice screams fall quite like cinnamon, and it’s as wonderful in music as it is in pumpkin pie. Folk rocker Neil Young and alternative-pop songstress Lana Del Rey both boast excellent tracks titled “Cinnamon Girl.” To avoid choosing just one “Cinnamon Girl” to spotlight, I instead recommend Belgian singer-songwriter Tamino’s “Cinnamon” for a sweet playlist inclusion.During the chorus, Tamino’s voice soars with airy self-harmonies, producing a heady and divine audial intoxication complete with melodic guitar strumming and a lush drumbeat. It’s an effervescent tune that would not only feel at home on a cozy study playlist, but also in a mix for a chic yet lowkey nights spent with friends. “Harvest Moon” by Neil YoungFor its flashes of proto-grunge guitar distortion and billows of rustic twang, much of Neil Young’s discography feels as suitable for fall as a lived-in flannel jacket. Due to its namesake — the nearest full moon to the autumn equinox — his composition “Harvest Moon” is inarguably autumnal, and, in my opinion, is among the greatest love songs ever.Though many individuals seek a partner with whom to keep company in life’s simplest, least glamorous moments — for those are the moments that make for enduring love — it’s still natural to worry about time eroding the ecstasy of newborn passion. “Harvest Moon” beautifully captures the cozy

One former editor tells Pelly, “but that didn’t help them fill a one-hundred-fifty-cap venue or sell merch.”Read: The diminishing returns of having good tasteThe great chill-out boom is just one stop on Mood Machine’s fascinating history of Spotify’s official playlists. At first, they were made by professionals hired for their taste and judgment. In 2017, Spotify introduced “algotorial” playlists, a slightly knotty process through which the company’s algorithms generated a pool of songs based on their particular emotional and sonic qualities, editors whittled these songs into a manageable playlist, and the algorithms then sorted these editor-selected songs into an ideal order. Noting the popularity of TikTok’s “For You” feed, Spotify leaned even harder into algorithmic recommendations. Click on a mood-focused or genre-specific mix, and you’ll usually get a version that was “picked just for you.” In practice, this means tracks that share enough of those characteristics with tracks you’ve already played. In a data-drunk era, this is what passes for discovery. Like so many other products influenced by machine learning, Spotify’s playlists can’t generate something new—say, a wholly fresh and unheard sound—for its users. They instead offer the flash of recognition, rather than the mind-scrambling revelation that comes only when you hear something you’d never expected. Because they’re all drawing from the same massive catalogs, the music streamers are conduits—between artist and listener, or listener and song. In a library north of 100 million tracks, you’d think it would be easy work finding candidates for playlists such as “lofi autumn beats” and “Bossa Nova Dinner.”But around 2016, as Mood Machine details, Spotify developed the Perfect Fit Content initiative, partnering with licensing companies that paid studio pros to bang out easy-listening ditties for the streamer—in essence, replicating popular playlist sounds on the cheap. (Spotify has not disputed the existence of the PFC

Ebisu circuit in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima prefecture is the birthplace of the original ‘Drift Matsuri’. ‘Matsuri’ means ‘festival’ in Japanese, so drift matsuri means Drift Festival. The Ebisu drift matsuri is held 3 times a year – one in Spring, Summer and Autumn (or Fall for all you Americans 😉 ).The matsuri is 31 hours of non-stop drifting that stretches over a whole weekend – starting at 9 am on the Saturday and going right through the night until they wave the checkered flag at 4 pm the next day (Sunday). You can catch the nishi train session on the Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4 pm.Matsuri goers have access to all 7 tracks at Ebisu circuit during the festival, including Higashi (east) course and West (nishi) course which aren’t usually open to drifting on regular days. With the wide selection of exciting tracks, night time drifting and lively ‘festival’ atmosphere, it has become a world-famous event that attracts local Japanese and international drifters alike. Everyone can join in the fun, whether it’s you bringing your own car to drift or just spectating and soaking up the vibes.2023 Ebisu Drift Matsuri DatesFind the dates of this year’s Drift Matsuris below. They happen every year at around the same time, but the dates aren’t confirmed until January. Start planning your trip! Spring 2023 Matsuri – April 29 ~ 30Summer 2023 Matsuri – August 19 ~ 20Fall 2023 Matsuri – November 18 ~19(please note that these dates are subject to change in extreme circumstances, such as a global pandemic!)Spring, Summer Or Autumn Drift Matsuri – What is Each One Like? The Spring matsuri usually falls on the weekend of Golden week every year in Japan, typically the first weekend of May. The weather in early May here is cool and sunny. It’s around the time of cherry blossoms in Tokyo, but it’s too early to see them in Fukushima (around Ebisu circuit). It’s quite cool during the day and cold at night so bring a jacket! The Summer matsuri usually happens in the middle of August as it coincides with the O-Bon summer holiday in Japan.. Search for something to help knock the keys off the jungle gym First, cover the broken sewer grate below the rocket jungle gym with a piece of cardboard lying nearby. Talk to Kat over by the sewer drain for more personal dialogue Offer a sleepover to Kat, who offers to take a rain check (friendship with Kat improves) Go back over to the torn fence hole that Autumn is standing next to and interact to trigger a cutscene where the two of them cross to the other side Choose the "I wish I could've stopped him" dialogue option (friendship with Autumn improves). Is the debut, bicoastal collaboration between the production/beatmaking of anticon's Alias and the voice and inspiration of Rona "Tarsier" Rapadas of New York's cinematronic duo, Healamonster & Tarsier. The project began with one fluke email and remained faceless for 21 months as they recorded their respective musical roles (without first meeting or even knowing the other)."Here Alias returns to the hard drums and boom-bap-infused atmospheres which tinted Muted; Tarsier walks a beautiful line somewhere between Bjork and Beth Gibbons.” - Anticon.com One gets the feeling that before meeting in person, Alias and Tarsier crossed paths someplace else, perhaps in some digital dreamscape out on the astral plane. "Dr. C," the lead-off single from the duo's upcoming full-length, Brookland/Oaklyn, drops us directly into this ethereal fantasy world. The Eyes Closed EP is five beautifully arranged instrumental songs of filtered polyrhythmic percussion, fat chopped drums, droney synths, lush string samples and TV/radio overdubs with anti-imperialist sentiment. A departure from early sample-heavy, loop-based Alias productions, tracks laden with washy keyboards and eerie guitar relied more on his multi-instrumental talents and signaled the transformation to come on Muted. Brendon "Alias" Whitney and Rona "Tarsier" Rapadas have always been something of an odd couple -- he from southern Maine, she from Culver City, CA -- they met after switching coasts (he'd moved to California and she'd moved to Brooklyn) and gradually became a team after spending some time swapping music by mail. Their collaborations eventually culminated in the album Brookland/Oaklyn, and Plane That Draws a White Line is an odds-and-sods EP compilation is made up of tracks from that album along with remixes, outtakes, and alternate versions. Lillian is the only collaborative studio album by Alias (Brendon Whitney) & Ehren (Ehren Whitney). It was released on Anticon in 2005. The album is named after their grandmother."It's a troubling, sweet record that's more than willing to immerse itself in abstraction and a lack of clarity, stimulating thought instead of giving distinct answers, which makes it quite a powerful accomplishment. - Marisa Brown, Ravi Alias’s follow-up 12-inch to his critically acclaimed Muted record features Markus Acher of the Notwist and pedestrian. Both tracks demonstrate alias’s compositional talent and flexibility as he blurs the lines between several music genres. In a addition to the title track and “The Physical Voice,” the single also features two new exclusive instrumental tracks by alias: “Autumn Afternoons” and “Something Borrowed,” as well
