A new Monty Python movie is on the way. Say what? This article is more than 2 years old Monty Python is one of the most influential and well-respected comedy troupes in history. There is an argument to be made that they are the most important sketch comedy group of all time. In addition to their groundbreaking television series, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, the team also produced a number of delightful comedy films like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. Though some of the crew have passed away, it looks like we are going to be getting a new film that is a riff on one of their classic movies.Monty Python’s Spamalot is a Broadway musical spin on Monty Python and the Holy Grail that has gone to be a very successful musical stage production over the last decade. Deadline has revealed that Paramount has obtained the rights to Monty Python’s Spamalot and will be producing a feature film version of the musical. Casey Nicholaw, who was the original choreographer for the Broadway musical, will be in the director’s chair. Monty Python member Eric Idle is on scriptwriting duties. As of now, we don’t know if Idle will be the only member of the troupe involved in the film production. While there could be the potential for some cameos, it is very likely that there could be a very limited number of cameos or possibly none. Monty Python’s Spamalot is a particular riff on the classic comedy film and does its best to stand on its own merits. Maybe Idle will make an appearance but that is the only one we would bet on showing up in the film. There is definitely an intention here to get Monty Python’s Spamalot up and running as soon as possible. Deadline says that the production is hoping to start casting immediately. It is also very likely that Paramount wants to position this as an Oscar darling. The original Broadway production won the Tony for Best Musical in 2005 and certainly has the potential to be a breakout hit for Paramount. It seems like the major movie studios are getting back into big musical productions after the success of The Greatest Showman. In addition to this, we will also see In the Heights and West Side Story this year. Clearly, move studios are banking on musicals making a big comeback. And why shouldn’t they? Hamilton was an enormous success on Disney+. It certainly seems like folks are here for musicals. Yeah, Cats was a disaster but that had more to do with its particular visual choices. The songs of Monty Python’s Spamalot are all very fun, silly, and even catchy. And if the visual approach of the film can be as equally pleasant as the soundtrack, Paramount could have a real hit on their hands. We will have to wait and see how quickly the studio can get Monty Python’s Spamalot up and running. Skype version 4.0 has finally emerged from its lengthy beta test and is now available for PC users to download and enjoy high res full screen video calls, as well as a bunch more new features.Skype told TechRadar last year that the focus for version 4.0 of its popular Voice Over Internet Protocol video and voice call services was on improving video and audio quality. The company has certainly done that, with the full-screen video calling in the latest version being crystal clear (providing you have a decent, new-ish webcam, of course!).Better sound and videoWhat else is new? You can kick off video calls directly, without having to make a voice call and then switch the call over to your webcams. A small point, perhaps, but one which is going to encourage more of Skype's users to use the 'full phat' version of the service, as opposed to using it mainly for instant messaging (and the odd intercontinental voice call).Skype 4 features a new, improved audio codec that gives better quality sound while "using 50 per cent less bandwidth."It also packs in a bandwidth manager which automatically also alters the video quality to ensure you get the best quality video calling to match your connection speed. Nifty!Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. Most of you out there will likely be using the minimum spec required for a decent 30fps video call – as Skype tells us that you only require a dual-core processor and 400Kbit/sec broadband connection to get the full monty videocalling experience. We'll be sure to put the shiny new Skype 4.0 to test on a number of computers both new and old in the coming weeks to let you know how it stacks up.Less clutteredFinally, the latest version of Skype boasts a much-improved, far. John Cleese is perhaps most famously known for his work with Monty Python — a British surrealistic comedy troupe responsible for creating the sketch comedy TV show "Monty Python's Flying Circus," as well as such films as "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," "Monty Python's Life of Brian," and "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life."Early LifeJohn Marwood Cleese was born on October 27th, 1939, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England — the sole child of Reginald Francis Cleese, an insurance salesman, and his wife Muriel Evelyn. Cleese's family surname was originally Cheese, but his father found it embarrassing and opted to use Cleese when enlisting in the Army during World War One.Cleese began his early education at St Peter's Preparatory School, where he received awards for his firm command of the English language and literature. Cleese also excelled at such extracurricular activities as cricket and boxing. At age 13, Cleese was awarded an exhibition at Clifton College, a prestigious English public school in Bristol.John was incredibly erudite, which gave him the ability to teach several subjects before enrolling at Downing College, Cambridge. With the Footlights Revue, Cleese would come into contact and work with future writing partner Graham Chapman. The Cambridge Footlights became known as the Cambridge Circus and, thereafter, traveled internationally.Cleese's traveling revue brought him to New York, where he appeared in multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and was, as a result of his efforts, offered a job as a writer for BBC Radio. 2025-04-19Monty Chris Riha, age 56, of Mankato, passed away July 31, 2021.Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Saturday, August 7, 2021, followed by a memorial service at 2 PM at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 105 Hosanna Drive, Mankato, MN. Immediately following the service, friends are invited to gather to share a story at The Circle Inn, North Mankato. To watch the service livestreamed, please visit To watch later, was born on August 30, 1964 to Stanley and Bette Riha in Winona, Minnesota. He graduated from Winnebago High School and received a BS in Communication from Bemidji State University. Monty had a well-known love of football. His football career in both Winnebago High School and BSU is well documented and often reminisced about. He took great joy in telling stories about his days as #28/44. Monty had two sons, Shane and Lucas, whom he shared with his former wife, Cathy Willette (VanDorpe). Nothing in his life was more important to Monty than his kids, and he treasured time spent with them. When his kids were young, he took them on a couple of trips to Canada for fishing and camping, to Akumal Mexico, and spent summers living on the Blue Earth River fishing, and Point Pleasant on Madison Lake tubing and skiing. Some of Monty’s favorite times were spent with great friends doing anything from sailing the British Virgin Islands, to scuba diving, to grilling and beers in Rod’s Backyard Bar. Monty was known for his storytelling, his karaoke singing, joking, and laughing, and his love of a good debate. Simple things could make him really happy. Great weather and a beer, grilling steak on a charcoal grill, catching a big fish, the conversation around the fire, a Viking win, or time spent with friends and his kids. During his short life, he created an impression on those who met him, and he will be missed by friends and family. Monty is survived by his two children, Shane of Mankato and Lucas of Minneapolis; their mom, Cathy (Jonathan) of Mankato; his sister, Donna Thulson (Jeff) of Durango CO, and their children, Jessica Washburn (Dillon), Durango, CO, and Jon (Eliza), Chapel Hill, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Riha and Bette Riha; and his niece, Kirsten Thulson.Memorials can be sent to the family of Monty Riha, at 500 Cardinal Drive, Mankato, MN to help his children cover funeral costs.
