Telling Local time:11:25 AM Posted 29 June 2012 - 06:12 AM Sorry about the delay: On the machine I wished to use for the testing, a relatively new 500GB HDD (with the Windows XP system on it) died abruptly (completely) and I've had to do some hardware juggling and image restoration/cloning to get things rolling again.I have tested to my satisfaction the following instructions and the xPUD_MBRfix tool provided by noahdfear and found that they will do exactly what we need them to do. Please let me know if the computer can boot normally to Windows after performing the following steps. On a working computer, download xPUD_MBRfix and save the file to your USB drive/flashdrive (it can be the same flashdrive or a different one as the one you already have bootable with xPUD). On the ailing computer:Insert the flashdrive (or both flashdrives if you choose to use two) and boot the ailing computer to xPUD.Click on File.Expand the mnt icon on the left (click on the little arrow beside the icon).sda1, sda2 etc. ...usually correspond to your HDD partitionssdb1, sdc1 is likely to correspond to a USB flashdrive, external USB hard drive etc.Note: If you choose to use just one USB drive/flashdrive for both the bootable xPUD operating system and the file xPUD_MBRfix, it may happen that after booting to xPUD and looking for the flashdrive, you are not able to find it anywhere. If this happens, simply unplug the flashdrive, wait briefly and then re-plug it back into. Basic instruction on how to use a flashdrive in your laptop. What a flashdrive is? No need for an optical drive.Your netbook does not come with an optical drive but you can still reformat it using a usb flash drive.I’ve reformatted a lot of desktop computers, laptops and netbooks since I learned how to reformat using a USB flash drive only. Normally, you need an installation CD or DVD to reformat a computer. But here, you’ll learn how to skip that requirement. You need the following to reformat using a USB flash drive:1. The laptop to be reformatted.2. A USB Flashdrive with at least 4GB capacity.3. A copy of Windows 7 or other operating system. You can have a copy of Windows 7 from this direct link to their server. Steps in Reformatting Your NetbookNote: Make sure you have reformatted your flashdrive first and set its format to NTFS for this to work.1. Download Unetbootin. Install it then run it.2. Choose Disk Image then browse to the location of the Windows iso file you have just downloaded. Hit OK and wait for the process to finish. This will take about an hour to complete.3. You now have a bootable flashdrive that you can use to reformat any computer.4. Boot up the netbook that you have to reformat. Hit Delete or F2 before it starts to go to the BIOS.5. Go to the Boot section of the BIOS and make sure USB HDD is the first option in the boot priority.6. Save the settings and reboot.7. Now, the netbook will boot up from the USB HDD or your flashdrive. Choose the language you want to use during the installation then choose the first large partition to install windows in.8. Wait for the process to finish and the netbook restarts. When it does, hit Delete to go back to the BIOS and change the boot priority to the

A disk burner. Get one: Life would be sooooooooooooo ... much easier!I have had no success finding a successful (and legal?) method of creating a bootable XP Recovery Console flashdrive, although a method used to be available on the net once, and I actually do have one myself! That just makes the situation even more frustrating!Let me know if you are having trouble, and we'll see what we can do about using an alternative flashdrive-based solution. As a start, let me know what bootable Linux etc. flashdrives you have available already.Edit: Actually, since you already have a bootable xPUD flashdrive, we can very easily use that along with a downloadable tool from noahdfear! Don't lose that xPUD flashdrive!I might just test that this method works as expected (give me some time), and then I'll post it for you to use if all is OK. And what I planned to do in making a bootable flash drive was extracting the .ISO, and also copying this BOOT.INI file to the drive, and some other files too, but I forgot where I found them. GPT will at least creates 4 partitions.windows 8 would still prompt you for cdkey, simply ignore it for the moment.now download and run pkuibx.exe and make sure select MSDM KEY, this will read the OEM win8 cdkey from UEFI bios, write down the cdkey.then activate with the cdkey you have.profit.complete steps : ... iso-2.htmlSep 25th, 2014 7:59 am#16audit13Deal Expert Feb 24, 2003 24208 posts 13113 upvotes Toronto Sep 25th, 2014 7:59 amGlad you got it to work.I also removed the mechanical drive and installed an SSD. It was a 240 GB SSD which I wanted to partition into 2 partitions (100 GB for Win8 and programs, the rest for my data files). When I did a clean install of Win8 onto an Asus Q301LA laptop , I was able to restore the Win8 ISO to a flash drive using Microsoft's USB Download tool. I then booted the laptop from the USB drive, created the partitions using MBR, restarted the installation process, and installed Win8. I did not run into the UEFI issue with the Asus laptop

After alot of work, reading the internet, collecting files/kext;s and lot's of installations, i finally got iATKOS S3 10.6.8 working including every driver on my HP G5000 Laptop. I never tried hackintosh and i'm fairly new into this, i'm still happy everything worked out eventually. iATKOS was never a problem to setup for the very first time, i only once experienced a KP due to wrong customize setup in EasyBeast > cpu management (had all 3 options marked instead of Voodoo PState only).I'll post the steps in 3 catagories that i have performed to archive this for anyone who has trouble installing Hackintosh on similar hardware. iATKOS Install, 10.6.8 Combo Update, Post 10.6.8 Updatenote: I'll be adding the mentioned apps and kext's to googledrive later.
