I guess a quick question would be if you had gone through the direct connect workflow while the card was connected to your PC. The card is great and is wonderful when it works. Sadly, the EyeFi Center software, although many times better than it was a few years ago, still sucks. I swear it was written over a weekend by a pair of interns with no senior developer overview. The workflow is horrible. The hoops one must jump through to make it work are non-sensical. The whole interface is just non-intuitive. For example, in order to change whether you want to transfer RAW, JPEG or both from your card to your device, you need to connect to the Internet.If I'm out on location in a remote area and have no Internet, to make trivial configuration changes I may need to drive thirty minutes into town, find WiFi, make the three second change then drive back! Truly DEMENTED! So, my point being... your card needs to register itself with the mothership at least once before you can use it remotely. I believe you must also connect your device to the EyeFi card while you have Internet connection. (not really sure, remember, the whole thing is so damn confusion, non-sensical and non-intuitive -- and be happy this is the second and improved revision!!!) Once done, it needs no further Internet connection for use in Direct Connect mode. (until you need to change the config... ) It may be also possible that you have it configured to connect to open WiFi. If it detects a WiFi nearby, it may be trying to connect through that instead of going into Direct Connect mode. Ditto Anyway, I would call EyeFi or email them and get their help. They are actually quite helpful, but seem to be in deep denial about how truly horrible their software is.
