Is super annoying (and hidden url's are cherry on that, making it difficult to share url's correctly). That said rendering speed of AMP is quite noticeably faster than navigating to the actual site - or at least for more popular tech oriented news type sites.Hard to say what's better - but I say to hell with AMP and just let us see raw websites. This AMP "feature" caused me to switch my entire search engine on mobile. In other words, you have to disable it by not using Google. For what it's worth, you can get this same functionality in desktop chrome in slightly fewer keystrokes using the custom search engines. Doesn't work on mobile, or at a public machine though. I can understand how the aspect of the control Google has over AMP isn't ideal but you can't deny AMP sites are a great user experience on mobile. Pages tend to load for me in less than 0.5 seconds even on my mobile connection. For other sites, pages can take 10 to 30 seconds to load, have pop-ups, image loading causes the page the jump up/down etc.Making sites with small download sizes and quick rendering is a very involved process. Google have made a tool and set of guidelines that force developers to use current best practices in a way you're just not going to get by hoping all developers everywhere do it themselves. It's also a much easier sell to management (i.e. "Is our site AMP compatible?") compared to trying to push for each individual best practice to be followed which can individually only have a small benefit. The problem that AMP is trying to solve is definitely real. But pushing sites to add another layer on their system is the wrong way to do it, IMO. Factors, user interface, image search, and paid advertising capabilities. For example, Google uses mobile-first indexing while Bing doesn’t. Bing also provides lower paid advertising costs and less competition while Google Ads carry higher costs-per-click and more competitive bidding.Google vs. Bing: Ranking factors and optimizing for search resultsGoogle and Bing share similar SEO ranking factors. They have differences, though. For one, Google uses mobile-first indexing, while Bing doesn’t. But Bing uses social signals as important ranking factors, while Google doesn’t.What are the other ranking factors that Google and Bing share? Let’s go through them in this section. The table below provides a summary:GoogleBingMobile indexing?YesNo301 and 302 redirects302 redirects may result in indexing issues302 redirects are interpreted as 301 after a few more crawlsOff-page SEO signalsBacklinks from authoritative websitesSocial signalsOptimizing pagesE-E-A-T guidelines· Create useful content for human searchers and not just search engines· Pages must be working in the Microsoft Edge browserTechnical SEOBoth Google and Bing use several technical SEO factors to determine a page’s rank in the results pages. However, each search engine has different priorities:301/302 redirectsUsing 302 redirects may result in indexing issues with Google, while Bing can interpret 302 redirects as 301 after a few more crawls. It is still good SEO practice to use 301 instead of 302.Page speed, popups, and mobile responsivenessGoogle’s Core Web Vitals metrics emphasize the importance of providing a seamless user experience to users across different devices and browsers to rank in SERPs. As such, a mobile-responsive website that loads quickly gets good points from the search engine. In fact, Google uses mobile-first indexing, meaning it ranks a website based on its mobile version instead of its desktop version. Intrusive popups that ruin a user’s experience may also negatively affect a page’s ranking.Official domainsBing favors pages with official domains of .gov and .edu, while Google considers commercial websites to be just as valuable.Off-page SEOBacklinks are important ranking factors for Google and Bing. But neither of these search engines simply looks at the quantity of a site’s backlinks — they both consider quality. To establish your site’s authority, your backlinks must come from reputable websites. Backlinking is more critical for Google, though. After all, it’s not formerly known as Backrub for nothing!Meanwhile, Bing considers social signals as a page ranking factor.
