But the Tidal app doesn't work very well, it doesn't properly show my search history, doesn't properly show my play history, and I sometimes struggle getting it to play properly. I have to switch from Tidal to another source and then switch back and it will start working again, but might take a couple times doing it. Bluetooth sounds terrible, I don't advise it unless you're just listening to a podcast. I'm hoping we get USB audio support s00n. I am not sold on it. If you have playlists on other music services, you can pull much of it into a Tidal playlist. I found that maybe 50% of what I have on my Spotify playlist was found on Tidal. I really try and hear the difference between tracks on Spotify versus Tidal, and honestly, to me, both sound great. I know the Tidal has a purported higher fidelity and does definitely take longer to cache songs, but to my 50+ year ears, both actually sound really good in the Rivian. I doubt I will keep Tidal after the trial as there is less selection than Spotify and I find Tidal does a much worse job generating playlists when you like a track. I also like that in the Rivian I can like a track on the Spotify app via the screen which I haven't found a way of doing via the Tidal interface. It is worth trying out Tidal, to see if your ears can hear a difference, especially if you can get the cheap trial. Goes along with the granola ) and YouTube Music over BT in previous vehicles - not had a new enough vehicle to have Android Auto. Considering the switch to Tidal but not sure it’s worth the time investment, especially considering I don’t know what the streaming situation will be post “membership“.So, is Tidal worth it?Is BT as glitchy still?You can try to convince me to try Spotify but I feel like if I have to make a switch I want more than just a different player.To keep it interesting, feel free to share your favorite R1 driving song/music/album.TIA! 2025-04-08Our new Surface Grids feature in Update 24, we noticed that tidal heating wasn’t changing the temperature of planets the way we expected. We traced this unusual behavior back to some errors in our tidal heating calculations, and then we fixed those bugs while we prepared the energy flow tools for Update 25. Now that we’re more confident in our tidal heating simulation, we thought that for this ScienceLog, we’d dive a little deeper into tidal heating, where it comes from, and how it works in Universe Sandbox. It may not be as flashy as other heating sources, like supernovas or lasers, but tidal heating can create some unexpected and interesting effects, and even determine the habitability of a planet or moon!What is Tidal Heating?As usual, it all comes back to gravity. The force of gravity depends on the distance between objects. For example, the strength of Earth’s gravitational pull on the Moon is stronger on the side of the Moon that’s facing the Earth than on the far side of the Moon. This difference, called the tidal force, can stretch the Moon out of its normally spherical shape. If the tidal forces are strong enough, they can even rip an object apart through a process called Roche fragmentation.Jupiter’s moon Io orbiting the gas giant in a simulation with just Jupiter and its moons. Io’s eccentric orbit creates tidal friction inside the moon, and the graph of Tidal Power on the left shows how the incoming rate of tidal energy changed over time. In real life, astronomers believe this tidal heating is the source of energy for Io’s many volcanoes.Smaller tidal forces will leave the object intact, and the “squishing” of the object’s spherical shape is usually too small to see. But if the tidal forces change over time— say, because the object is spinning, or its orbit is non-circular (elliptical)— all this squishing and un-squishing will create friction inside the object, which will add heat energy.How Does Tidal Heating Work in Universe Sandbox?As the simulation runs, Universe Sandbox is constantly calculating the gravitational forces pulling on every object. We use these calculations to determine where each object will move next, and how fast, but we can also use them to calculate the strength of the tidal forces inside the object. If these forces are strong enough, the simulation produces fragments to simulate Roche fragmentation tearing the object apart. It also calculates how much heating is produced by tidal friction, and sends that information into the energy flow calculations that control the object’s temperature.With the improvements in Update 25, we’re now much more confident in our tidal heating model. We even made a new simulation to show it off: A
2025-04-17I need Help.HelloI have got a problem with one of my tidal-dl-ng instances. Recently i have discovered that my tidal downloads are somehow corrupt, well the problem ist that they all are without tags. I can't even add the tags manually. When i am downloading the same file on a different machine (VM) all is fine. Also worth mentioning, that i can't expand the Artist/Album within the faulty tidal-dl-ng anymore.I am on both machines on 0.15.6 and Manjaro 24.1.1. Settings within tidal-dl-ng are basically the same.The one with the problem has received the latest manjaroOS updates, the other one not.I am mentioning this because i assume tidal-dl-ng is just partially can be the problem. Or maybe even not at all?Reinstall didn't change a thing.Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be? Or maybe has an idea of how to figure the problem out?What operating system are you seeing the problem on?LinuxYour settings{"skip_existing": "False", "lyrics_embed": false, "lyrics_file": false, "video_download": false, "download_delay": true, "download_base_path": "~/download", "quality_audio": "HI_RES_LOSSLESS", "quality_video": "480", "format_album": "Albums/{album_artist} - {album_title} - {album_year}/{album_track_num}. {artist_name} - {track_title}", "format_playlist": "Playlists/{playlist_name}/{artist_name} - {track_title}", "format_mix": "Mix/{mix_name}/{artist_name} - {track_title}", "format_track": "Tracks/{artist_name} - {track_title}{track_explicit}/{artist_name} - {track_title}{track_explicit}", "format_video": "Videos/{artist_name} - {track_title}{track_explicit}", "video_convert_mp4": false, "path_binary_ffmpeg": "/usr/bin/ffmpeg", "metadata_cover_dimension": "320", "extract_flac": true, "downgrade_on_hi_res": true}
