The Desert Southwest by the time we get to Thursday. While that system should give us our best chance for additional scattered showers and thunderstorms by next Thursday and Friday, it may keep some scattered showers in the forecast by next Saturday before it moves on.Another system with rain & storms Thursday & Friday(KY3)Scattered rain could linger into next Saturday(KY3)Rain or shine, temperatures look to stay mild through the week ahead. After lows in the lower to middle 50s Sunday morning, a northwest wind won’t stop us from warming up. Highs on Sunday should push into the lower to middle 60s for the Missouri Ozarks and into the upper 60s in northern Arkansas.Highs back in the 60s for many Sunday afternoon(KY3)While temperatures on Monday morning look cold with numbers in the upper 30s to lower 40s, we should see highs easily climb back between the middle 60s and lower 70s for Monday afternoon.Middle 60s to highs near 70° for Monday(KY3)That mild trend will continue through the rest of the week.Rain or shine, numbers stay mild through the week ahead(KY3)Under partly to mostly sunny skies Tuesday and Wednesday, that will keep highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Even with those possible rain and thunderstorm chances from next Thursday through next Saturday, we should stay mild with highs in the lower 70s. Good Saturday evening, everyone. Even though we stayed quiet today, our cloud cover this evening should give way to increasing chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms for late tonight. In fact, we have parts of the Ozarks under a level 1 to level 2 risk for storms to be strong to severe with large hail and some isolated high wind gusts possible.Level 1 to 2 risk for some strong to severe t-storms tonight(KY3)This is all due to a couple of storm systems passing nearby and through the region tonight into Sunday. Even though we are dry at the surface, we are expecting an increase in moisture and wind above the surface to help fuel our thunderstorm chances later.Watching a system pass to our south tonight and an incoming cold front early Sunday(KY3)Once we get to about 9:00 to 10:00 this evening, storms will initially develop to the west of 65. As they continue to strengthen, they will work across mainly the Missouri Ozarks and push into our eastern counties by about midnight to 1:00 early Sunday morning.Storms get going between 9 and 10 o'clock tonight(KY3)Initial storms clearing the eastern Ozarks by 1 AM Sunday(KY3)That initial batch is where we may get a chance to see some strong to severe storms. After that clears out, our cold front to the northwest will come through Sunday morning keeping mostly cloudy skies and some scattered showers and a few storms in the forecast. Once we get past Sunday morning, though, we will see partly to mostly sunny skies return for the rest of the day. Depending on where the storms pass through, rain amounts could range between 1/10 of an inch to about an inch at most.Some scattered rain and t-storms in place by sunrise Sunday AM(KY3)Additional scattered showers & few t-storms for Sunday morning(KY3)Even after this system clears, we will continue to see gusty winds and humidity values stay a little too dry for our liking. That means we will keep an elevated fire risk in the forecast from Sunday through Tuesday of next week.
