Some are more popular with locals and foreign visitors. Others offer a privileged contact with the aquatic fauna. Whether you go to the beach to swim, practice a water sport or enjoy an exceptional setting, everyone chooses according to their preferences and expectations. Five of them stand out as the most beautiful Moorea beaches.1. Temae BeachProbably the most popular beach in Moorea, Temae is located in the northeast of the island. Bordered by a row of coconut and palm trees, its white sand and crystal clear waters make it a must for swimming, snorkeling and contemplation. The lagoon is not deep, so the beach is ideal for both children and adults. In these warm waters and thanks to a light current, the aquatic fauna and the coral massifs are right on. Stingrays and multicolored fish accompany you during your snorkeling trips. Coming to Temae beach is definitely one of the best things to do in Moorea. This public beach offers a breathtaking view of the island of Tahiti, the mountains of Moorea and the adjacent Sofitel hotel‘s bungalows on stilts where you can enjoy fruit cocktails and other tropical flavors. It is all the more appreciable that this establishment belongs to the best hotels in Moorea. Easily accessible with parking and shower/toilet facilities, the beach is a popular place for To 5:30 p.m., the site offers, in addition to its white sand beach, a relaxation area and amenities such as showers/toilets. All this in the shade of palm trees and close to shops to better enjoy a picnic in the park and a morning at the beach. The beach is beautiful with an incredible view of the lagoon and the immensity of the ocean. Less popular with tourists and day-trippers, it offers peace and quiet, and snorkeling is as easy as ever: the areas are indeed shallow. It is an ideal area for families and for those who love bright skies. The west orientation offers breathtaking sunsets until the last rays and the play of colors becomes quite stunning. How to Get to Tiahura Beach?4. The area offers spectacular scenery with white-sand beaches and a calm blue lagoon that is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and boating. Visitors can stay in waterfront bungalows to enjoy breathtaking views of this heart-shaped island.Cooks Bay is a postcard...I think one of the most beautiful views on Moorea. We stayed in Cooks bay for a few days and the mix of ocean and views is amazing.A safe harbor and anchorage for boats. Seems very industrialized as far as Moorea goes: lots of homes and businesses on the shoreline here. Easiest offshore access to the gas station and super market, as well as a few restaurants. Lots of tourist boat activities, and a few other cruisers anchored during our stay. Deep water anchorage closer to the mouth of the bay, shallower near the shore, approximately 50-90 feet throughout. Thick mud bottom that many have reported pulling anchors in strong winds - we had no issue! Spectacular mountains surround the harbor, but beware of the very strong winds that seem to kick up and die down very quickly! Would offer five stars, but our experience was tarnished by locals burning trash almost 24/7. Only one of two harbor anchorages available on the. Adds to the practicality of the location. However, the beach itself is quite small, and the stretch of sand where you can set up is very limited. It’s important to preserve this public space, as it’s one of the few remaining on the island. As travelers, we were disappointed to learn that there are only three public beaches left on all of Moorea. It’s absurd to see how much of the coastline has been privatized, reflecting poor decisions made in the past. Moorea deserves better public access to its beautiful shores.Max P — Google reviewA decent beach with some shade and not too crowded. It was hard to find good beach access with easy parking along this coast -this park made it easy, except it closes at 5:30PM and there is a gate. A bit inconvenient because it would be a great place to enjoy a sunset. There is better snorkeling in other areas of the island, but I swam out nonetheless, and found plenty of fish and coral. Lots of anemone and clownfish here - I didn't see the elusive little fish anywhere else on the island but here they were plentiful.Nick — Google reviewNice public beach with free parking and a large grassy area before you get to the water. Good snorkeling in the turquoise water.Michael M — Google reviewHauru Public Beach in Moorea is more than just a beach - it's a slice of paradise! This stunning public beach boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft, white sand that's perfect for sinking your toes into.Overall, Hauuru Public Beach is a must-visit for anyone vacationing in Moorea. It's a picture-perfect paradise that offers something for everyone. Don't miss out!Simon L — Google review4.1(74)•Aéroport de Moorea Temae is a charming little airport with friendly AirTahiti staff and convenient amenities. It features a boutique, jewelry store, and a restaurant where you can enjoy coffee or meals. The airport offers passport checks, baggage pick-up and drop-off, as well as free public toilets. Despite its small size, the airport provides efficient services for travelers heading to Bora Bora and other islands. Additionally, there are taxis A stuffed animal, which was definitely the highlight of her tripGym is good, AC at the gym just so-so.There is plenty of parking across the street - never used it but saw other people using it.Eric — Google reviewIts do-able. That’s the best I can say after having spent 2 nights at the Westin Bora Bora. But this place underwhelms at every turn. Much like other reviewers have pointed out, the Hilton is just riding the coattails of its original glory. No updates, no fixes, nothing feels new.So if you need a place in Moorea, this will be acceptable because the resort has all of your must-haves (pool, beach, rental equipment, restaurants, etc) except a fitness center. There basically is NO fitness center. It was the worst Ive ever seen in 1000+ nights in hotel rooms. Absolutely unacceptable in every way. Half of the few equipment options were totally broken. But apart from that the rooms are comfy enough except that stupid, indefensible showers that have no doors?? Why???You can probably do worse than this but don’t expect this place to go over the top or impress you if you’re used to quality resorts.William B — Google reviewGreat experience at Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort. The staff are super friendly and the overwater bungalows are magical. The reef fish just steps from the beach or off the bungalows provide a great opportunity for snorkeling and enjoying the natural environment. And again, the staff are super friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a great 3 day stay here!Jillian L — Google reviewI'll never travel to Moorea without this trip planner again4.5(1258)•Nestled in the stunning Moorea, Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort offers a chic and polished retreat with private beach access, dining options, a bar, pool, and spa. There for the bar. He didn't seem to know, or at least want to allow, non hotel guests in. (there is a parking lot specifically for day visitors though🙄)He said we had to go to reception. So we did and told them our intentions. The lady said that they are fully booked and would "have to sit on the beach with your drinks". That is why people go there. They didn't seem like they wanted business.Michael B — Google reviewThis is just a review of the restaurant. Food was simple and fresh. Service was quick. We got in without a reservation but the place filled up quickly after we arrived (about 645pm). Our server was quirky and made us laugh.Garrett M — Google review4.2(757)•4.0(1163)•Cultural centerSights & LandmarksHistoric SitesTiki Village is a vibrant Tahitian cultural center and Polynesian village located in Moorea. The restaurant is highly recommended and known for its French cuisine, providing great food, atmosphere, and service. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views and fresh breezes while indulging in delicious meals.Definitely a must visit place on Moorea, reserve well in advance ( don’t forget to book the shuttle-boat).Great dishes , we had the Tuna carpaccio with truffle & the shrimp 🦐-curry .After lunch you can stay for a swim or snorkel and take the last shuttle back at 16h00.Amazing food and service but the best thing is the atmosphere. It is stunning. Drinks were a little bit of a let down and the snorkeling nearby is worse than everywhere else on Moorea.
