Using? First of all, Reaktor 6 does not have native Apple Silicon support, this means it will not work if not in Rosetta mode (your DAW or the Komplete Kontrol standalone application). There is a beta version that brings that compatibility, feel free to join the beta here: Reaktor 6.5.0: Beta phase has startedNow, for Massive X, do you have the latest versions of Massive X installed (1.4.2) ? I just had Komplete Control crashing on launch (in Rosetta) while scanning the VSTs. After that, it started as usual. Trying to load Massive X in KK prompted the message Massive X could not be loaded, as it may not yet support Apple Silicon or VST2 to VST3 migration. Please contact the plug-in manufacturer for more information. Note: although Massive X appears as installed in NA, as I did a complete reinstall yesterday, I cannot find a Massive X App on my HD. Searching for M X brought up three folders, one named massive X (small M) - not a single folder had a Massive X app as a standalone. M X doesn't show up in Logic either (Logic with Rosetta!). BTW, Just tried to load Reaktor in KK (the browser doesn't state what version of Reaktor is opened by a preset 😐) and got the prompt "Plug-in/preset could not be loaded, as it may not yet support Apple Silicon or VST2 to VST3 migration. Crash. I have saved the crash report, let me know if you want it. 0 Massive X doesn't have a standalone application, it's only available as a plug-in.I tested again on my M1 laptop. Massive X loads fine in both Rosetta and ARM native mode. Not sure why it crashes or why it gives you these error messages. Let's focus on Massive X at first.Delete these folders:Mac HD > Users > Username > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Massive XMac HD > Users > Username > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Komplete KontrolNote: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu: Now reinstall the Massive X Factory Library in Native Access. (Also give Full DIsk Access to Native Access while we're at it).Open Komplete Kontrol in standalone in Rosetta mode. Let the plug-in scan go its way. When it's done, try to load a Massive X preset from the left browser, also try to load a preset from the right menu: If that works out, now close Komplete Kontrol and open it in ARM native mode. It should rescan the plug-ins again. Try to load a preset from the browser and from the menu.If everything is workin there, try to load Logic in Rosetta mode, check Massive X as a plug-in, Massive X in a Komplete Kontrol plug-in, then close and open in ARM mode. Now for Reaktor 6, you can delete this folder: Mac HD > Users > Username > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Reaktor 6Reinstall the Reaktor Factory Library in Native Access.Open Komplete Kontrol in Rosetta mode and check if you can load from the right browser and the left menu. 2 tymes2 Member Posts: 24 Member Wow, what a comprehensive response. Did exactly as written, deleted folders, restarted and launched Native Access (NA). Massive X still shows up as "installed". I'll try a reinstall anyway, as I'm running out of choices. Will report back. Thanks for now! 1 tymes2 Member Posts: 24 Member So I did a reinstall via NA. In Maschine 2, it shows up as an instrument, allows browsing and loading just fine. Launched Logic, found a failed validation - so M X was at least seen - and chose to reset the whole plugin validation thing. Restarted Logic and voila - Massive X. Loads and plays. Happy camper here - thanks a lot, Jeremy!!!👍 Cheers! 1 tymes2 Member Posts: 24 Member Now I tried Reaktor, KK in ARM Mode crashed the Scan App, in Rosetta it crashed again. Crash Report says RAUM was the culprit. After that, KK launched and Reaktor was available, allowing me to load presets. Also I had R6 available in Logic (w. Rosetta), loading presets and all worked. Again, thanks Jeremy for your support! Also, thanks Kymeia for taking the time to respond! 1 @tymes2 Ah greatMASSIVE X 预设丨MASSIVE X Expansion NOW(MASSIVE X Expansion
Different. The two synths aren't really designed to be the same thing.Like I said, Massive is a Virtual Analog Synth that used Wavetables. It's like Sylenth1, but as a wavetable synth. Massive X was never really designed to be that. It's more comparable to something like Serum or Vital. The sonic signature is different. There are scenarios where you would use Massive over Massive X even if they both had the same feature set, because of the sonic signature disparities between these two synths. There are too many differences between the two. Users are better off just continuing to use Massive for what it does/have to offer. It's still supported. There are WT synths that deliver sound aimed at where Massive was, but they aren't made by Native Instruments and I'm not going to mention them again. Massive X was a reaction to Serum, not an attempt to deliver an "actual" upgrade to massive. It simply uses the Massive branding for clout and marketing boosting. 0 iNate Member Posts: 296 Pro UI is fine until you go beyond QHD resolution on your machine, unless you're willing to scale down to QHD/FHD on a UHD+ display.Steinberg instruments (Retrologue 2, Padshop 2, Groove Agent 5, The Grand 3) have the same issue, so it's not an issue limited to Native Instruments - but, since we're here... 0 Yeah I do understand. You can actually add a third somewhat limited oscillator in Massive X. With a bit if upgrading it could support more. But this is why present it as a "choice". it's the user decision. Even then if they try migrating a patch and it sounds terrible, then just keep using the original in legacy mode. It's not like you have to destroy a patch by giving it a shot. A direct out switch for bypassing FX, which you can do on the routing section of Massive X.Recommended: The Ultimate Guide to Distortion and SaturationEffectsLet’s be honest – effects can make or break a synth, especially one that you’re using for creative sound design. So you don’t want to pick an option that doesn’t help you get the end result you desire.Thankfully, both synths have a plethora of FX options.Serum has 10 FX (11 if you count Hyper and Dimension as 2), with each effect in its own unit that you can turn on and off as needed.Massive has 2 FX sections, each with 3 slots. Each FX section has a different set of FX you can choose from; Section 1 having 11 options and Section 2 having 9.SerumMassive X (Section 1)Massive X (Section 2)Hyper/DimensionAnimaDimension ExpanderDistortionBit CrusherEqualizerFlangerUtilityFlangerPhaserFolderNonlinear LabChorusFreq ShifterPhaserDelayDistortionQuad ChorusCompressorOSCReverbReverbPM OSCStereo DelayEQRing ModStereo ExpanderFilterSample + HoldTrack DelayWhile Massive X certainly seems to have a greater number of unique FX (and Serum sticks to the basics), Massive X is limited in the number you can use. And what’s more is that Serum’s FX seem to be more customisable – for example, the Distortion unit in Serum can do the same as the Distortion, Bit Crusher and Sample + Hold combined. Also, many of Massive X’s effects can be replicated in the filter types (Ring Mod, Freq Shifter etc.)I will say that the effects in Massive X are very fun to use and can yield unexpected results, so don’t think because there are fewer options that you’ll be having a boring time.As for routing, Serum’s FX sections allows you to drag the order of effects, and Massive X allows you to customise the FX in the Routing section.Recommended: EQ: The Ultimate ‘How To’ GuideModulationIf there’s one thing that the synths both have in common, it’s that they aren’t shy on modulation sources.Envelopes & LFOsMassive X gives you 9 customizable LFO/Envelope slots, on each of which you can choose between:Modulation Envelope (normal)Exciter EnvelopeSwitcher LFORandom LFOBear in mind the E1 will always stay as the main synth amp envelope. In contrast, Serum has 3 fixed envelopes and 4 LFOs that expand up to 8 as you use them all. But it only has 1 type of envelope and LFO, unlike Massive X.I’m not going to lie, Massive X’s envelopes definitely have the upper hand here.
