I'm waiting to hear back from customer support, but I thought I would ask here as well. I've tried a couple of times to complete the Oculus setup installer and this is the error that I get repeatedly:C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\Support\oculus-librarian\OVRLibrarian.exe exited with code 7 (failure). All of the firewalls and security settings are turned off, yet this is what I get.Anyone else seeing this? oculus riftOculusSetup.exe All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic 7 REPLIES 7 Is Windows Firewall service running? Its state has to be Enabled and Running.Enabling and disabling the service through Control Panel -> Administrative Tasks -> Services is not the same as turning off Windows Firewall through Control Panel -> Windows Firewall! If you don't want to use Windows Firewall then it's recommended to turn it off for all network locations (Home, Work, Domain) but leave the service enabled and running. If you completely stop and disable the service then Oculus installations will fail because it can't add the necessary firewall exclusions (regardless if you've turned it on or off). Thanks Popopinsel! Unfortunately, that didn't solve it.1. I re-enabled Windows Firewall.2. I have Realtime Protection disabled (Windows Defender)3. I'm allowing all inbound and outbound connections for all apps inside of windows firewall4. I made sure that my registry permissions were all in the right order.5. I have install permissions set to "developer mode" (has to do with side loading)Is there anything else I'm missing that could be affecting this? So, cmaury and I had a TeamViewer session yesterday and it turned out that a) he had run the setup from a different drive than c: ("Downloads" folder redirection to drive e:) and b) that his %TEMP% folder was also not on c: but on a ramdisk with drive letter a:.As soon as we moved the installer to a directory on c: and mapped %TEMP% back to where it defaults to Oculus setup went just fine.Problem solved! EDIT: False Alarm. I thought the installer got stuck. Turns out it just needs a lot of time. Launched my usual sim, iRacing (it usually launches outside of the oculus app, but needs the app running to initiate the hmd) loaded up ok, fps was fine, seems fine. had to reroute the audio, but that's minor (windows default sound settings) the only oddity was there was no mouse pointer in the hmd for viewing the desktop in oculus home/whatever its called.Still, no joy loading oculus software via the usual way still throws the service error, and all was done tonight be loading the OVRServer (1.38.0.2.xx) manually. I've not touched the nvidia drivers as noted above. This from my impression sounds like a missing oculus launcher service. how or why, windows update 1903 has decided this is no longer a thing, is highly confusing. one would have thought developers would have been all over this in pre1903 releases.Anyway, won't be racing until i see a proper fix for this, nor will i be buying a rift-s, if this is what we can expect in newer hmd's.Comments
