All the Decades of aggressionMortal Kombat X is another entry in the long-running fighting series, famous for its brutal, violent and incredibly gory gameplay. This time the fighters have more moves available than ever before, and fans will be eager to try out the new 'fatalities' of each. While the gameplay in Mortal Kombat X is a step forward from previous games, this PC version has some features we're not so keen on - paying real money for in-game currency that's used to buy various upgrades in the game.Komplete KombatMortal Kombat X has 29 fighters for you to master. Some are returning favorites, and there are some newcomers. Here's the full list: Cassie Cage, D'vorah, Ermac, Erron Black, Ferra / Torr, Goro, Jacqui Briggs, Jason Voorhees, Jax Briggs, Johnny Cage, Kano, Kenshi, Kitana, Kotal Kahn, Kung Jun, Kun Lao Liu Kang Mileena, Predator, Quan Chi, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Shinnok, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, Takeda, Tanya and Tremor.Does that look like a lot? As well as 29 characters, each also has three different combat styles, and each style has a wide range of moves to learn. So, mastering all the characters in Mortal Kombat X looks like quite a mountain to climb. Of course, most people settle for perhaps two or three characters who most suit them, and in this sense Mortal Kombat X's library of characters means you should be able to find something that fits you just right. There is a single player campaign in Mortal Kombat X that lasts about four hours. That may sound short, but it's good for a fighting game. Where in games like this the 'story' seems tacked on, and a bit pointless, in Mortal Kombat X's story campaign is a really fun, cinematic experience.Mortal Kombat fighting environments have always been characterized by their interactivity. Discovery’s fourth-quarter earnings call in February—the teaser video lacked the usual fanfare that might accompany a full-fledged trailer littered with screenshot-worthy moments from its diverse cast of characters spectacularly kicking ass. Instead, the 17-second video displayed the minute hand of a clock tick from nine to 11 (y’know, like Mortal Kombat 9, Mortal Kombat X, and Mortal Kombat 11) before skipping directly back to one. If the simple symbolism bears out, it seems likely Mortal Kombat 12 will be resetting the series’ timeline once again.“It’s almost time,” the Mortal Kombat Twitter account wrote alongside the clip.Read More: Mortal Kombat 11: The Kotaku ReviewUnlike Capcom’s penchant for releasing Resident Evil spin-offs that endlessly mine the narrow time frame around Raccoon City’s zombie apocalypse, MK developer NetherRealm Studios’ narrative bread and butter is to reset its universe at the start and end of its more recent games. In Mortal Kombat 9’s story mode, a pre-murderized Raiden tasked his past self with altering major moments from the first three games to prevent a cataclysmic end to the universe. Ultimately, future Raiden’s vague AF “he must win” message confused even his past self as to whether he should aid Shao Khan or Liu Kang in winning the tournament and marred his reputation as a wise deity, resulting in a yet grimmer universe reset after a bunch of (unintentionally?) hilarious misunderstandings among Earthrealm’s heroes.Mortal Kombat 11’s ending, on the other hand, cemented Liu Kang as an all-powerful god-like figure before teasing him un-screwing big bad Kronika’s “Agatha All Along-ing” of their timeline. It should be noted that the domino trail leading up to MK11’s finale tragically involved the outright jobbing of the once-promising MK10 standout, Kotal Kahn. Sad.Mortal Kombat 12 is projected to release sometime later this year, according to loose-lips Zaslav.

Kronika will go down in Mortal Kombat history as the first female final boss for the series. However, it seems that she was originally planned to be male like all the other final bosses before her. According to Shawn Kittelsen (via History Behind The Warrior), Dark Raiden's act of decapitating Shinnok at the end of Mortal Kombat X would've provoked Shinnok's father, Kronikos, to take action in Mortal Kombat 11. Similar to what we got with Kronika, Kronikos would be known as the Lord of Time. "At the end of Mortal Kombat X, Raiden decapitates the Elder God Shinnok," said Kittelsen. "This provokes the wrath of Shinnok's father, originally Kronikos the Lord of Time — a hulking titan older than the universe. Kronikos merges three different eras: Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat 1 and a new uncharted Mortal Kombat future."The story we got with Mortal Kombat 11 is very similar to this draft. Of course, it was only the past and the present that merged in Mortal Kombat 11. This idea of including the future ultimately got nixed. It was declared that having a "future Mortal Kombat" represented like this would make the story particularly complex. Keeping the story focused on the "past vs. the present" kept things relatively simple."At the end of Mortal Kombat X, Raiden decapitates the Elder God Shinnok. This provokes the wrath of Shinnok's father, originally Kronikos the Lord of Time — a hulking titan older than the universe. Kronikos merges three different eras: Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat 1 and a new uncharted Mortal Kombat future." - Shawn Kittelsen"Characters and settings from all three eras would appear simultaneously in the same world. Here in this time merged world, Kronikos is supreme," continued Kittelsen. "To finish Raiden and our heroes, Kronikos unleashes deadly future killers and former

Which ended up being one of the worst mistakes ever made by the franchise, considering that its fans didn’t feel they were playing Mortal Kombat. Watering down the violent content represented a huge setback for Fatalities, which turned into something lame and depressing for the first time. Although this game had a great story, these ugly elements made its failure the chronicle of a death foretold. 7 Best: Mortal Kombat X (2015) via 3dm-games.com Although Mortal Kombat is definitely one of the greatest games of all time, storytelling is one of its weakest points, given the fact that its stories are not exactly deep and profound. However, this is probably the strongest virtue of Mortal Kombat X, to the point where its script has such interesting twist and turns that going through the story mode represents an unforgettable experience. In addition to this outstanding feature, Mortal Kombat X had great details that gamers loved, such as the introduction of new characters and the return of different fighting variations for every single fighter. Also, developer NetherRealm Studios managed to introduce fun, distinct variations to the old characters, which was a really risky move that ended up receiving positive returns. Nevertheless, the only issue from Mortal Kombat X is that it didn’t include classic characters like Smoke or Kabal, who only made an appearance during cinematics in the story mode. In any case, this game will always be remembered as one of the greatest of the entire series. 6 Worst: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (1997) via YouTube.com This was definitely one of the most anticipated games in franchise history, given the fact that imagining an action adventure while controlling the legendary Sub-Zero seemed too good to be true. Unfortunately, the game didn’t meet the expectations and became a good example of how not to make a Mortal Kombat game. In fact, the game also fails as a platform jumper, considering that stages were too simple. However, the biggest fail was that the fighting experience was extremely shameful, since it didn’t match the intensity that fans were used to in the previous games. Basically, Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero was essentially a side-scrolling version of the three first games in the series, with Sub-Zero running around the stages, freezing enemies, beating them up, and dodging some easy traps. Sadly, the reception was so overwhelmingly negative that Midway canceled its original intention of turning Mythologies into a series within the franchise. 5 Best: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993) via YouTube.com The reason why this became one of the greatest games in Mortal Kombat history was because it managed to exceed gamers expectations, which were basically impossible to get near at that time. As you can imagine, when a company manages to launch a really successful game, the real challenge comes with the sequel, considering that it needs to put forth a colossal effort to match the quality of its predecessor. However, this is exactly what happened with Mortal Kombat 2, which ended up beating the previous
