The windows restore sounds like the best option. But I understand from Geek Squad that Windows 10 had issues with wifi from first releases. It was enough to bring back the wifi adapter to the device manager listing and it is now working again. I expect that some MS Windows 10 update that was necessary was not restored to the same point, but it seems to not have caused any major problems yet.
