Flash works and has always worked in Safari for pretty much everyone else. I have access to several Macs, including a MacBook Pro, a Mac Mini, and two iMacs. They all play Flash perfectly in Safari. Weird that Firefox plays Flash and not Safari on your system. Something certainly appears to be hosed with your Safari installation.
