Voltage lowering, so they spin slower.if you're using 3 pin type fans, go to bios and select your fan type as DC-fan.4 pin type fans, select PWM fan. no siggy, saw stuff that made me sad. I found that the Opt 1-2-3 fan headers only allow speed settings in "Duty" mode unless you have the optional temp sensors connected. Duty mode only allows setting fixed percentages of fan speed. With the temp sensors connected and appropriately placed, you can put the settings in "User" mode and select various profiles. I found sensors available on Ebay. I tried temp +10 but when it reaches 60-65 degrees, it's too loud at 70-75% fan speed and I'm worried playing for long hours with that kind of noise (sounds like a jet taking off) but I also don't want to fry my card. I am trying temp +5 now. Where should I start? 35 degrees or 40 degrees? My card is GTX 680 SC Sig2 @ all stock clock. I was able to so this with speedfan with no problem! I just went into options and stumbled upon a checkbox that allows for compatibility with not only dell notebooks as the checkbox claims...it works across almost every dell computer, desktop OR laptop! Even though my speedfan is too messed up to use the CPU fan any more, and i am too lazy to re-install speedfan, it worked up until i had to re-install my O.S. without any problems. #9 ok,I've done it...but HW monitor still doesn't allows me to change #1 So I have clocked my fx at 4.2ghz now.CPU Thermal margin is in 20ish area, so that's good. Voltage lowering, so they spin slower.if you're using 3 pin type fans, go to bios and select your fan type as DC-fan.4 pin type fans, select PWM fan. no siggy, saw stuff that made me sad. I found that the Opt 1-2-3 fan headers only allow speed settings in "Duty" mode unless you have the optional temp sensors connected. Duty mode only allows setting fixed percentages of fan speed. With the temp sensors connected and appropriately placed, you can put the settings in "User" mode and select various profiles. I found sensors available on Ebay. The Asus store was out of stock at the time.The CPU Opt header is controlled via the CPU fan settings in BIOS. I tried temp +10 but when it reaches 60-65 degrees, it's too loud at 70-75% fan speed and I'm worried playing for long hours with that kind of noise (sounds like a jet taking off) but I also don't want to fry my card. I am trying temp +5 now. Where should I start? 35 degrees or 40 degrees? My card is GTX 680 SC Sig2 @ all stock clock. It not too bad! My GTX460 run at IDLE is between 29 to 34 and full load depend on games go up to 65c to 75c. My idea best to stay under 80c as I don't want fry up my card lol Hope if that help you? I was able to so this with speedfan with no problem! I just went into options and stumbled upon a checkbox that allows for compatibility with not only dell notebooks as the checkbox claims...it works across almost every dell computer, desktop OR laptop! Even though my speedfan is too messed up to use the CPU fan any more, and i am too lazy to re-install speedfan, it worked up until i had to re-install my O.S. without any problems. #9 ok,I've done it...but HW monitor still doesn't allows me to change
2025-04-02#1 So I have clocked my fx at 4.2ghz now.CPU Thermal margin is in 20ish area, so that's good. But what's worrying me is the TMPIN2 sensor on the mb.It used to fluctuate to 75 celsius sometime, but I added a one intake fan at the bottom and it dropped to ~65-67.On some forums I read that it's the vrm temp or the cpu socket temp. No one seems to agree. So what would be the safe temp? Also other says that it's a sensor to make cpu idle temps more sensible(cpu package temp +15celsius offset). So back to the question ,what temp would be safe?
