SSL FUSION STEREO IMAGE - Manuals
Solid State Logic has announced an update to its SSL Live console range, with the SSL Live V6 adding a new effects suite, Dante routing enhancements, remote control updates, and more. The new update brings studio processing tools such as Fusion FX and Path Compressor Mix Control to the stage via SSL Live, while the Sourcerer and Blitzer effect rack modules can now be controlled directly from the TaCo app.The onboard Fusion Effect Rack is designed to faithfully emulate the five key color circuits found on the SSL Fusion rack mounted hardware: Vintage Drive, Violet EQ, HF Compressor, Stereo Image, and Transformer. These modules provide five coloration tools designed to bring the designed combination of added tonal character, weight and space to the mix bus or stereo stems. SSL has also added additional features found in the Fusion plugin series. Meanwhile, parallel compression is now available on all channels and buses via the Path Compressor Mix Control, accessible directly from both the touch screen and hardware controls. Further, the TaCo app has been updated so users can gain full remote control over the Sourcerer and Blitzer effect rack modules directly from the app. The app provides wireless control of SSL Live consoles from iPad or Android devices and can be used anywhere in the venue or alongside the console. The enhanced Dante Routing Modes now include both the standard Showfile Saved mode as well as a new Outside of Showfile mode. There’s full Dante routing directly from the console, and users can choose to store routes within the showfile or configure them as independent, system-wide Dante routes. This transforms the console into a Dante controller, enabling management of system-level routing across the network. Users can create Dante routes that persist even after the console is powered down or a different showfile is loaded to help ensure uninterrupted system operation. Also, a new “Dante Allowed Device List” lets users control and manage which Dante devices are visible and routable on the console. This well suited for many applications, such as fixed installations where freelance engineers may be authorized to access the console routing but perhaps not other resources that may be restricted. The new V6 update also includes a System Set Minimum virtual tie line counts, which streamlines showfile routing for fixed installations. Even if a loaded showfile specifies a lower number of tie lines, the system will enforce this minimum, preserving “house set” connections that guest engineers cannot alter.SSL Live V6 will be available in January 2025 as a free download for the entire console range. Goes a long way, and it has more clarity and 'forwardness' in the top end than the Michelangelo. The low is really nice, allowing significant boost without getting overly puffy or uncontrollable in the sub. The combo of HPF and Low EQ is very controllable. In terms of the drive, it's more subtle than the Culture Vulture. It won't go completely over-the-top bananas like the Thermionic can, and for that reason I find it easier to dial in than the CV. I love the CV and sometimes it's JUST the right thing, but it can so easily change the entire tone of the mix and dull the top end in a way that the SSL doesn't. What impressed me about the Vintage Drive circuitry is that, unless you push the density very hard, the tonal balance of the mix stays very nicely in place. Much quicker to dial in, too, across a full mix. It doesn't replace the CV to me, which is a more powerful distortion box and still a go-to for grit and thickness on stems. The Fusion looks great. For those home studio guys who cant afford it, buy the SSl Version 6 channel strip and saturation plug in. Their tube compressor is great too if you want more color. Yeah it's not the same but it still greatly enhances your music. Quote: Originally Posted by Jason rocks ➡️ The Fusion looks great. Not everyone can amass racks of outboard gear and collect them like Pogs (remember those things?). So when we review a product in the four-figure price range, we want to make certain it’s either the real deal or market hype. So, in the case of Solid State Logic’s latest brainchild, we obtained one a year ago and vowed not to write a review until after the honeymoon phase of the gear relationship is over and reality sets in. Behold, my year with the SSL Fusion!Needs No IntroductionAh, one of the Holy Trinity of pro audio. Solid State Logic is a tentpole in the music industry. Despite being exponentially easier to get audio mixed in the box, some part of nearly every song on the radio (even to this day) still passes through their hallowed “super analogue” circuits. I mean, when countless manufacturers have glommed onto your name to sell their own versions of your products, you’ve done a few things right. While the bulk of their prestige comes from their EQ and Compression, they haven’t built very many new original audio processing tools. Most of the latest releases are impressive smaller format consoles and control surfaces. That’s great and all, but the world needs another all-new piece of hardware from SSL that audio can pass through. Hardware that brings life back into the populace’s aging eyes who experienced their consoles firsthand and distracts the new generation from their mouse, screen, and piles of plugins. Enter Fusion. No Con-FusionAs soon as you pull Solid State Logic’s new “color box” from the packaging, you can tell the Fusion is unquestionably SSL. From the dark faceplate adorned with the signature colorful knobs to the unmistakable metering, the 2-rack-space, 2-channel Fusion maintains the iconic looks of its British royalty. However, that’s where the familiarity ends. The Solid State Logic Fusion is a whole new animal. It’s no secret that SSL has been steadily modernizing with the changing of the times and know that the majority of today’s studios don’t, won’t, or can’t justify the price tag of a large-format console (to say nothing of the cost of maintenance AND electricity). Yes, they still produce several excellent mid-to-large-size consoles (their AWS Delta certainly deserves a look) – but most of us just need a few channels of that analog shade and color. So, in its place – theSSL Fusion - Solid State Logic Fusion - SSL Fusion

Closing out a great year of additions to its Fission plugins, SSL dropped a shelving EQ which shines best when used subtly. Fission Violet EQ is the company’s latest two-band EQ plugin that performs best tending to minor blemishes. So without further ado, let’s dive into this new Fission plugin from SSL, and see everything it has to offer. As described by Solid State Logic, “The Violet EQ is a 2-band minimum phase-shift shelving EQ from the critically acclaimed Fusion Stereo Analogue Colour processor.” Further adding, “It is the first new Solid State Logic analogue EQ design in more than 25 years.” Right off the bat, SSL’s introduction of Violet EQ colors us impressed (no pun intended). At the front end, users can adjust the input trim using +/- 12dB of gain. An initial high-pass filter can be engaged at either 30, 40, or 50Hz settings.Violet’s two band EQ sits directly in the middle, and use stationary frequency selections. On the low end, users can adjust at either 30, 50, 70, or 90Hz, using +/- 9dB of freedom. Looking further up the spectrum, the high-end band consists of the same, at frequencies of 8, 12, 16, or 20kHz. Finally, SSL chose to incorporate its rising “FAT” button in its latest plugin. When the HPF is engaged, “FAT” adds an extra bump around the cut-off frequency, adding some extra low-end boost.SSL’s Fusion Violet EQ rings up at $199, but from now until January 13th, you can pick it up discounted at $149.Comments

2025-04-14We at Everything Recording understand you’re not made of money. So, in its place – the
