The Lady Panthers ran their winning streak to four games and improved to 8-2. Megan McCoy scored 10 points to lead Man. Zoey Martin had five, Braylee Thompson and Emilee Deel had two each and Tayler Wheatley one. Bill Lusk | WVOW SportsFAYETTEVILLE Barboursville defeated Logan, 13-4, in the losers bracket finals of the Herd bracket Wednesday evening in the West Virginia Little League Softball State Tournament at Charlie McCoy Town Park.With the win, Barboursville advances to play Mountaineer bracket winner Hite Saunders on Thursday.Barboursville plated four runs in the first inning and never trailed as they plated two runs in the third, three more in the fifth and four in the sixth to win going away.Abby Salmons led Barboursville, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Salmons was one of five Barboursville players to have at least one extra base hit.Uyen Pham had two hits including a triple and one RBI while Scarlett Armstrong had a double to with two RBIs. Brooklynn Cremeans tripled, and Kenzi Peak doubled for Barboursville, who also got a hit and one RBI from Kollyns Eastham and a single from Chole Casey.Casey earned the win for Barboursville, striking out 12, walking six in six innings of work with four runs allowed on six hits.Abby Ellis was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI for Logan at the plate. Ellis had half of Logan’s hits, six total, while Daphne Ellis had one hit and one RBI.Peyton Sigmon had one hit and scored twice, and Kenlee Tomblin had a triple.Taylor Akers allowed nine runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and three walks. Daphne Ellis worked 1 2/3 innings of relief in the circle, allowing four runs on three hits while striking out two and walking one.

Class AA No. 4 Chapmanville got off to a hot start knocking down 9 of 11 shots in its game with George Wythe Saturday afternoon in the Friendships Cars Virginia Invitational presented by Big Shots at Virginia High School's Bearcat Den. The reigning Class AA champion Tigers led the Maroons, the reigning Virginia's Class 1 state runner-up, 22-14, after one quarter of play before the Maroons outscored the Tigers 40-21 in the second and third quarters to take a 54-43 lead into the fourth quarter. Chapmanville forced overtime by outscoring George Wythe, 17-6, in the fourth and outscored the Maroons, 15-10, in overtime to rally from 11 down and pick up a 75-70 win.Chapmanville (8-5) has won four straight games and will travel to Class AAA No. 5 Herbert Hoover Tuesday night. Cameron Blevins led the way with a game-high 28 points including six 3-pointers. Blevins scored 11 of his 28 in the first quarter and had 20 first half points for Chapmanville. Bill Lusk | WVOW SportsMAN The Man Lady Hillbillies scored four points in the third quarters as the Scott Lady Skyhawks turned a 10-point lead into a 27-point advantage and never looked back in defeating the Lady Hillbillies 58-36 Tuesday night at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.After leading 12-6 after one quarter of play, Scott outscored Man 38-17 in the second and third quarters to take a 27-point lead into the final eight minutes. Kelsey Harper led the Lady Skyhawks with 28 points and hit six 3-pointers in the win.Cheyenne Robinson and Haven Tomblin joined Harper in double figures finishing with 15 and 13 points respectively.Man never led in the contest and trailed by as many 30 points in the second half.Jace Baisden led Man with 16 points while Jenna Baisden added 12 points for the Lady Hillbillies.Megan McCoy and Lexigh Vanover each had four points for Man, who fell to 0-2 with the loss and will return to action Saturday at Cabell Midland High School against Greenup County (KY).Scott improved to 2-1 and will host Sherman Friday night.

Bill Lusk | WVOW SportsMAN Tug Valley scored the first 19 points, built a 28-point halftime lead and never looked back on its way to a 58-20 win over the Man Lady Hillbillies Friday night at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.MacKenzie Browning led Tug Valley with 16 points and Haven Deskins scored 11. The Lady Panthers ran their winning streak to four games and improved to 8-2. Megan McCoy scored 10 points to lead Man. Zoey Martin had five, Braylee Thompson and Emilee Deel had two each and Tayler Wheatley one. Kylie DeBoard and Bailee Hall each scored eight points, Kayley Richardson six, Lilly Mounts added four, Alexi Messer three and Kathryn Hall finished with two points for the Lady Panthers, who remained unbeaten against Class A Region IV competition this season. Man (1-7) will look to snap a seven-game losing streak Monday night at Mount View. The Lady Hillbillies will host Cross Lanes Christian Tuesday and Montcalm Friday.

Bill Lusk | WVOW SportsFAYETTEVILLE Barboursville defeated Logan, 13-4, in the losers bracket finals of the Herd bracket Wednesday evening in the West Virginia Little League Softball State Tournament at Charlie McCoy Town Park.With the win, Barboursville advances to play Mountaineer bracket winner Hite Saunders on Thursday.Barboursville plated four runs in the first inning and never trailed as they plated two runs in the third, three more in the fifth and four in the sixth to win going away.Abby Salmons led Barboursville, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Salmons was one of five Barboursville players to have at least one extra base hit.Uyen Pham had two hits including a triple and one RBI while Scarlett Armstrong had a double to with two RBIs. Brooklynn Cremeans tripled, and Kenzi Peak doubled for Barboursville, who also got a hit and one RBI from Kollyns Eastham and a single from Chole Casey.Casey earned the win for Barboursville, striking out 12, walking six in six innings of work with four runs allowed on six hits.Abby Ellis was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI for Logan at the plate. Class AA No. 4 Chapmanville got off to a hot start knocking down 9 of 11 shots in its game with George Wythe Saturday afternoon in the Friendships Cars Virginia Invitational presented by Big Shots at Virginia High School's Bearcat Den. The reigning Class AA champion Tigers led the Maroons, the reigning Virginia's Class 1 state runner-up, 22-14, after one quarter of play before the Maroons outscored the Tigers 40-21 in the second and third quarters to take a 54-43 lead into the fourth quarter. Chapmanville forced overtime by outscoring George Wythe, 17-6, in the fourth and outscored the Maroons, 15-10, in overtime to rally from 11 down and pick up a 75-70 win.Chapmanville (8-5) has won four straight games and will travel to Class AAA No. 5 Herbert Hoover Tuesday night. Cameron Blevins led the way with a game-high 28 points including six 3-pointers. Blevins scored 11 of his 28 in the first quarter and had 20 first half points for Chapmanville. Zion Blevins had 18 points and Joey Gollihue added 15 for the Tigers. Reed Kirtner led George Wythe (9-4) with 22 points. David Goode had 17 and Ty Campbell finished with 12 for the Maroons, who will be back in action Monday evening at Galax (VA). Baisden then tossed a 34-yard touchdown to Rylee Jones to start the fourth quarter scoring for Logan and finished the scoring with a 45-yard scoring strike to Chase Hatfield. Baisden completed 9 of 12 passes for 187 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He also hauled in two receptions for 37 yards and carried the ball three times for six yards. Justice caught three passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns, he also caught a 19-yard pass from Drew Berry in the second quarter. Gabe Adkins caught four passes for 50 yards and Jones had two receptions for 33 yards. Berry completed 8 of his 12 passes for 88 yards as he and Baisden combined to complete 17 of 24 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns. Taylor had 65 yards rushing on 13 attempts and completed 13 of 30 passes for 130 yards for Sissonville. Evan Taylor hauled in six passes for 56 yards and Nathan Young had four catches for 52 yards including a 5-yard touchdown that brought Sissonville to within seven, 21-14, in the second quarter. Ian Cox had a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter for the Indians, who fell to 0-2 with the loss. Adkins rushed for 47 yards on nine carries and scored on a pair of 1-yards runs in the second half for Logan. Logan improved to 1-1 with the win and will travel to Poca this coming Friday night in search of its second straight win. ac
